Her parents are of Bosnian origin through her mother's grandmother. She can trace her ancestry back to Peja, a city in Kosovo. The two grandparents of Lipa were both historians. Her siblings include Rina and Gjin. The father of Lipa, who was a guitar player and singer in the Kosovan band Oda, influenced her musically.
